Alternate Assessment
We take pride in our leading role in alternate assessment. Our special education professionals have extensive experience in
- helping states and districts understand the federal mandates and identify strategies to appropriately evaluate students with the most significant disabilities
- working side by side with clients on test development and key elements such as scoring rubrics and implementation logistics
- developing a variety of assessment options, from portfolios, datafolios, electronic portfolios, and performance-based assessments to structured observation and evidence-based rating scales
- applying universal design, validity, and bias and sensitivity criteria that assure accessibility to all students
- creating reports that include data at the state, district, school, and student levels and are designed to provide meaningful information to improve instruction
- preparing reports to satisfy Adequate Yearly Progress and other federal reporting mandates
- providing professional development to teachers and test administrators
We take our role in student assessment seriously. Our conviction is that every student can learn and deserves to be counted. That commitment doesn’t end when an assessment is complete; we are in an ongoing relationship with our clients, supporting them to develop an assessment program that is a testimony to learning successnot a reprimand for failure. We welcome an opportunity to share this commitment with you.
