Standards in the Classroom

In standards-based classrooms, state and district content and performance standards are embedded in curriculum and instruction. They provide a positive environment filled with student-centered learning activities and assessments. Our goal is to help educators overcome misunderstandings regarding the standards-based classroom. Building on what you already know, we help you effectively integrate standards with curriculum and assessment through an interactive unit- and lesson-planning process. You receive training, hands on experience, and support to help you

• explore the positive changes standards bring to the classroom,
• unpack standards into meaningful chunks of content and create learning targets that both teacher and students understand,
• align the learning targets with learning experiences, as well as formative and summative assessments,
• understand the design and implementation process, starting with the end in mind, and
• design, use, and review standards-based units of study.
