National Assessment Governing Board

The National Assessment Governing Board (NAGB) awarded Measured Progress a contract to set achievement levels for the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) writing assessments. The contract involves the development of the first fully computerized NAEP test administration for grades 4, 8, and 12.

In addition, Measured Progress served as subcontractor to San Francisco-based WestEd on another NAGB/NAEP contract through December 2011, implementing standard setting for college and occupational preparedness for the NAEP grade 12 reading and mathematics assessments.

The NAEP, also called "The Nations Report Card," has been the leading national measure of elementary and secondary student achievement since its inception in 1969. The NAEP is administered every two years. Content areas, which vary from administration to administration, include the arts, civics, economics, mathematics, reading, United States history, and writing. The sample of students who are chosen to participate represents the geographic, racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic diversity of the nation's student population.
